Welcome, Traveler
"Whoever you are, and however far you have come, there is a place for you in the Light of the Root."
The Cathedral of the Grey Saint has stood in Vatira since the first years after the Fissure. We keep the old observances, we tend the Saints' Register, and we hold the Long Vigil each year as our grandmothers did before us. The doors are never locked during daylight bells. This page is kept by the Office of the Parish Register, that those at a distance may know our times and our news. — the Keeper of the Register
Service Times
| Observance | Day | Bell |
|---|---|---|
| Dawn Vigil | Every day | MORNING BELL |
| Evening Vigil | Every day | EVENING BELL |
| The Reading of the Register | Bellday & Crowday | MORNING BELL |
| The Long Vigil | 25th of the Long Vigil month | SILENCE — broken at dawn |
| The Night of Names | Final Stillday, Dead Root Moon | SILENCE — broken at dawn |
On a holy day, the city wakes to no bell. The faithful keep the silence until the dawn bell breaks it. It is the most sacred sound we know.
The Work of the Cathedral
The cathedral keeps many works in the Light of the Root. Follow the ways below to learn of them:
The Pale Sisters — our order of charity, the tithe, and the care of the faithful.
The Still Gardens — where the aged faithful rest among the statues of the Saints.
Decrees & Observances — the warnings and judgments posted for the faithful's safety.
The Confessionals — where you may unburden your heart and be heard.
"Come in good faith, keep the observances, and the Light will keep you." — the welcome of the Grey Saint
